Writing a new Blog...again

Here's what happened: I got inspired by a post I saw on The Writer's Circle Facebook page. It was a 30 day writing challenge and I thought, 'Hmm, why not?' You see, I used to write fairly frequently but after a blog failure, a computer meltdown, and other activities keeping me busy, writing sort of took a back seat. I do have another blog on another site but I'm not crazy about the user interface. So it just sort of sits there...collecting cyber dust.

What was it about this 30 day challenge that inspired me? I'm not sure exactly. I have friend who is a pretty prolific writer. He posted something the other day that I just really enjoyed reading because it was sort of a free flowing piece where he was challenging himself to complete a certain word count. It got me thinking about writing...again.  He's also doing the NaNoWriMo challenge which sounds pretty cool....and at the same time daunting. I mean seriously, writing a novel in a month? Ok, so it only works out to 1,667 words per day, but you also have to have an idea for a novel, something germinating in your head to begin with. At the moment, I don't have that...ok, that's not entirely true, I have a multitude of ideas. Too many ideas in fact.  I just don't have one that's particularly well thought out yet. Well, rather than set myself up for a stressful endeavor I thought I'd begin with something a little simpler, you know, just to sort of get into the habit of daily writing. Something fun because let's face it, if it isn't fun, why do it?  All I have to do is write something every day for 30 days and see what happens. No minimum word count. Just use the writing prompts each day and create something. I can do that! Right? I guess we'll see.

I found this list on Tumblr and thought it might work, although I may search around a bit more and make a mish-mash of a list. There were a few prompts on the Writer's Circle post that I liked and a few that I didn't on the Tumblr list so I'm thinking of swapping them around.  I plan to begin the challenge on November 1st because, well, there's 30 days in November. One month of daily writing.  We'll see how this goes. I have several days to think on it. In the mean time, I plan to use this as a journal sort of thing. Share what's going on, adventures with friends, random thoughts or observations, that sort of thing. To be honest, I haven't really decided whether or not to share this officially with friends and family. For now, I think it'll just be for me...and anyone else who might stumble across it on the interwebs. So, as of now unknown friend, thank you for reading and I hope you are having a beautiful moment.
