Wednesday Photo of the Week

Singing Bowls and Reiki

My good friend Dawna and I will be hosting an event this month called Singing Bowl Meditation with Reiki. We came up with it as a way to promote my Reiki practice to the local community. We will play our Tibetan and Crystal Singing bowls and our Gongs.  We are both very excited to be sharing our time and energy to the community in this way. I took this picture Sunday before we began practicing our program.

So I've Come to the Realization...

...that I am not particularly good at keeping a journal...or journaling as some call it...at least not in the "traditional" sense. I have friends who are awesome at this. They keep notebooks and do regular blog posts and write, write, write. I can write, I like to write, but something occurs when I have to write about what happens daily, my thoughts and feelings, etc. I have been encouraged to keep a journal for Reiki, dreams, and other things but I have found it to be difficult.  I just get ...stuck I guess.  I'm not sure why but there it is. It's not that I have an issue with words or anything. In fact, I love words! I read all the time, often several books at once. I also love languages. I've studied Japanese and Mandarin. I teach Sanskrit Mantra for Pete's sake!

Something I am good at though is taking pictures and video. Maybe it's because I'm really visually and audially oriented. I like the look of things, the textures, the colors, the sounds. My cousin did one of those One Second Every Day projects. She is a professional photographer and videographer. She worked on this video for the Ocean Alliance. I watched the first One Second Every Day video she did back in 2014 which kind of got stuck in the back of my mind. I just watched the one she posted for 2015 and it ignited a spark. I thought, "What a great way to document a whole year." It's like those 365 photo challenges, only with video. So here it is, 11 days after I began my own and I am somewhat obsessed! It's a good thing. It makes you think about trying to do or see or experience something interesting every day. It's also a good way to remember all the good, and maybe not-so-good things that happen over the course of a year. All the moments are important but having a little reminder, a one second reminder, can spark a whole flood of memories one might otherwise have forgotten.

So, along with this project, I also thought it would be good to intersperse it with photographs and maybe little video clips here as well. With that said, here is a quick video I took on January 9 of my friends John and Joe :)
